Is it possible to change the reflectors that came with my Current Nova Extreme Pro? If so, how would I go about buying the parts and setting it up?

Right now it has individually contoured reflectors, but if it were possible I would like to upgrade to individual reflectors with the v shaped top to maximize my output.

    Thanks in advance,

    Robert

I'm not sure I completely understand your thought here... More than likely its my poor grasp on the english language. However, I can tell you that for any T5 bulb to produce the output required to be considered a "High Output" (HO) bulb, each bulb must have its own reflector. IMO, you have a really nice fixture already. Tell us what you are trying to accomplish by modding the fixture and I'm sure we can come up with something. Or just sell me your fixture and I'll build you what you want.;D

Okay, well right now there is one "giant" reflector that is bent around every bulb. What I want is to have each bulb have its own individual reflector that has a v shaped mold above the light to redirect a higher percentage of the output back into the fish tank. I hope that makes sense.

I understand completely what youa re trying to do, but unless you gut that fixture,a nd re configure it outside of the old housing and essentially make it a retrofit, there is no room for SLR's in that housing.

IMHO, leave it as is. If you have not changed the stock current bulbs for better ones from ATI , or geisseman, I would do that first. The stock current bulbs are not very good.

Okay, so if you were me, what bulbs would you replace the originals with? Here is what I want to do with my tank...

I want to be able to have LPS, SPS, and Shrooms, Zoos, and such for sure. I also want to one day (once the tank is established enough and I have actually become knowledgeable on the subject of salt water) want to add either a BTA or a RBTA, as well as some sort of clam.

With this in mind, what exact bulb scheme would you recommend, and then where could I find these specific bulbs?

    Thank you

    Robert

I would personally do 2 ATI blue +, one ATI aquablue, and one UVL super actinic bulb (or other actinic)

A local guy runs that setup on his 30 breeder (in a tek 4 bulb) and it looks great. Nice and blue, but those B+ bulbs make a lot of PAR, more so than any other blue bulb.

Now, I like a bluer look, so it you want whiter, you may want to swap a b+ for something else less blue. I have a feeling you will probably like that look though.

Reef geek has all those bulbs.

I would run from front to back

    B+
    SA
    AB
    B+

You can in theory swap out the big gull wing reflector for a set of SLRs, BUT there is a hitch. SLRs for fixtures, such as a Tek or TX5 or heck even NEP are different than RETRO SLRs.... Retro SLRs are a good amount shorter to allow for the WATERPROOF endcaps.. Ones in fixtures use sockets that take up little room. SO if you use RETRO SLRs in your fixture they will be a couple inches short on each side... SLS sells replacement reflectors for their Tek that you could probably jerry rig into the fixture. Tek "SLRs" are actually one piece of MIRO IV aluminum that is pressed into what appears to be SLRs... They are better than say the NEP but not "TRUE" SLRs.

Call up a dealer or SLS themselves and ask for the dimensions for the replacements, if it fits, gut your unit and pop those in. Should be an easy DIY if they fit.

    Good luck
