Yes, RO water is commonly used for drinking water when people have wells(live out the country), which can be contaminated with copper, iron, etc. These are not harmful in small amounts, but the water will taste like the things in the water. RO units will filter the water and improve the taste.

Neither RO or RODI are detrimental to your health, unless you're drinking them exclusively.

Personally I would never drink RO/DI water.

It is fine. you get all the minerals and nutrients you need from other sources as long as you eat healthy... anyone that claims it is unsafe doesn't really understand the science of it, IMO. If you ONLY had RODI water to drink and no other nutritional food source, then MAYBE there would be a problem...

But it's really overkill to use for drinking water... no need for it. I'd suggest a Brita pitcher which has a micron + carbon filter... it's all you really need. it will get rid of the chlorine and the taste...

The only time an RODI unit would be practical for drinking water would be if you were on a remote island and the only source of water you had was saltwater, or the water you were getting comes from a polluted area and it's the only choice you have for drinking water.... otherwise, just get a brita filter...

Why not? And why is DI detrimental and very bad? I understand if you drank it exclusively it would deprive you of nutrients but still not sure why:confused:

It won't deprive you of any nutrients unless you rely on water as your only source of nutrient intake... and if that's the case, you probably have a lot other things to worry about...

    Hahaha.

RO water has never been proven to be unhealthy. There was a reesearch project about it a while back, but I don't remember ho was behind it. It never came to any real conclusive results. What it claimed, I have already shown to be wrong. I drank RO water for 6 years at my last house. with no harm. the only reason i don't have it now is because we lived out of town at the time and we had a well. We now live in the city and don't need the RO unit.
