I dont know if this is true for everyone, but as i have grown this reef tank over the past 7 months, with the help of all the experts here (Thanks Everyone). I can almost feel when my tank is right, without testing anything. When I do test, it usually confirms the way I feel about it. I can also feel when it is wrong. This is without any obvious signs either.
Just wondered if anyone else experiences this!!! It is pretty cool!!!;D

I feel everyday that my tank is not at it's peak. I think it is because I am so new to the hobby. I also think that I KNOW there are too many dead spots, and until I fix this it will constantly be bothering me.

But hopefully one of these days I will morph into having ESP with my tank as well...lol

being in tune with your tank , was an expression used by Reef Sparky on his lighting conversion/upgrade thread

I smiled to myself when I read it, simply because like you , my test kits come out sometimes not according to my weekly routine, but because I "felt" something was possibly "out of whack"
coral behaviour, fish behaviour, anything that seems to be out of the norm

the postive side is that sometimes you look in the tank, and you feel that everything is "contented" or whatever the coral and fish equivelent is, of this human emotion
