can you have mangroves fully submerged?

I wouldnt do that, you can kill them that way. Just make sure that their at least 1" out of the water. I personally like to use eggcrate and stick the mangroves in the square holes.

i should say...or at least they should float. if you have a sinking black mangrove that is already sprouted keep an eye on it.

I have red mangroves in my fuge, they were just pods when i planted them...they were all fully submerged at first...now they are all grown out of their pod stage and are happy trees all of them have broke the water surface on their own...soo in my experience they didnt need to be out of the water at all...i dont know if it makes a difference or not but my fuge is 4Xt5 lit, so they might grow a little faster in mine than in most fuges?
