I made a canopy for my 125 out of mdf. My dad is telling me it will be too heavy for the tank. Do you guys think it will be fine or should I use regular plywood instead?

I'm not sure if it would literally just "be too heavy". But there is a breaking point for all things...how much does the canopy weigh? If you do plywood use 1/2" at the most.

That is quite a bit of weight. Well, does the tank have a frame/rim around it or is it a rimless tank? Is it glass or acrylic?

Acrylic is a lot stronger than glass.

also make sure you seal it real well as you know mdf and water arent the best of friends.

Its an all glass, with the double braced frame. I weighed it again and its about 60 lbs. Thats a little too much weight imo. I might just make another canopy of much lighter plywood.
