can you over protien skim???

    I'm still curious why you feel you need three skimmers on a 130g tank with one of them rated to 150g?

    This is a very debatable subject. I've heard from some very reputable people who have said they have seen the ill effects of overskimming, but I can also plainly see my SPS growing with a 250 gallon rated skimmer on my 30 gallon tank.

    It just comes down to knowing your tank and watching close. If your not having any param issues though, I would leave it alone.

    im a perfectionist and wanted the best possible environment for my inhabitants without going overboard. this is my first tank am the first to say i have a lot of learning to do

    I asked the same question on RC a little while ago. While I got some "answers", there were no explainations or reasoning behind it. I do belive, as many builders I have talked to have stated, that an oversized skimmer on a tank does not work as well as a properly sized one. That skimmer performance suffers, but have never heard of any ill effects on the tank from "overskimming".
