My 125 build is almost done. Im goin to be using a 55 gallon sump, I plan on baffeling it out to 3 sections, 1 fuge, 2 Brine shrimp/mysis incubator/3 return. Is it posibble to tank raise yur own food supply of shrimp? If so what do you feed them can you have alot in a little space? Can they take alot of flow? Any comments would help alot thanks! Oh, I forgot I need to fit the skimmer somewhere in the process too.

    Mysis are freshwater.

Many hobbyists have mysids in their tank but culturing them is not an easy task. They are extremely cannibalistic and every life stage needs to be sorted.

You do not want to culture either of these in your sump. Artemia (brine shrimp) are very dirty animals and require a lot of food.

I thought I saw a brine shrimp incubator from somewhere. I think its on BRS i'm not really sure. So does everyone just buy them frozen then? I thought it would be cool to raise my own live shrimp, pluss they are far more nutritional.

Here's one article I have on culturing mysid. seahorse.org - Raising Mysid Shrimp as a Home Aquarium Food

It's pretty complicated as stated above and in the long run probably less expensive to buy frozen.

Brineshrimp are easy to culture but imo it's a waste of time because they are only nutritious for the firts 48 hours. You'd need to gut load the adults with HUFA's before feeding them to be beneficial.

Yes, mysids are a PITA to raise and I've stopped doing it.
I still raise brine shrimp and do it in 26g garbage pails, but you can do it in pop bottles or any other size that fits your needs.
As for brine shrimp nutrition, people have been knocking this for so many years and its all a bum rap.
When brine hatch out to nauplii, they have an egg sack that is high in fatty acid content, but low in protein. As the brine shrimp grow, they first loose this egg sack and thus the fatty acid profile drops very quickly but is still reasonable.
As they progress through the molts, the protein level increases.
In fact, juveniles and adults grown from GSL cysts have protein levels 49.7 to 62.5% by weight.
    NUTRITION PROPERTIES OF ONGROWN ARTEMIA
Now, if you gut load them, you can increase the protein level, or increase the fatty acid profile, or both, and you can add vitamins or even medications.
I don't have access to the US economical supply of artemia available from livebrineshrimp.com, so I have to grow my own.
My brine page might help some to set up their own operation scaled to their needs and can be seen at:
    RAISING BRINE SHRIMP TO ADULT

I'm wasn't saying brine shrimp area hard, just that you do not want to culture them in your main system, do it stand alone :) Be aware non decapped artemia can often carry vibrios.

you can soak the frozen brine in the plankton, vitamins, etc for a few minutes prior to feeding aswell.
