hey all, just introdoucing myself, im 18 years old from vancouver BC, CANADA!

ive been interested in aquariums for a while but never got around to getting one, but now im done with school for a bit i thought it was time!

so i bought a 55 gal tank and decided to go saltwater/reef just because of how cool they can look and the interesting invertibretes you can have and i love tropical fish/coral etc etc its 100x better than freshwater imo...

and being from canada it can be nice to look at in the freezing cold raining winters....

ive had the tank up and running for about 8 days now and i love it, everything is going smooth.

i used oceanic salt mix with some warmed tap water so it would adapt quicker
all the clowns and tangs and damsels are getting along ok and the corals seem to be still adapting and not fully there yet they seem to be closed most of the time,

    haha JK!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

hehe no but sereiously everything is going good as i have 25lbs of liverock in there now and 45lbs of caribsea

and im running a rena xp2 canister

aquaclear hagen powerhead (gonna buy a koraline or 2)

i just purchased a new lighting system today and its awesome its a 2 bulb current sattelite with led moonlights, not hugely powerful but im not planning to be running a huge reef.......... yet :)

100x better than the 15watt aquaglos i had in there :-/

ill post a pic in a bit as im just putting my other 15lbs of liverock in and arranging it.. ::)

anyone else from vancity on here?? or bc atleast?

    talk to you all later

    taylor

here are the pics as promised (link to show off your tank on 3reef :))

I spend a fair bit of time in Vancouver. Plan on moving out there in a year or so since I just graduated from college. But, for now, I will have to deal with life in Edmonton, AB, haha.

ps. Nice intro. I could just see all of the people on here, myself included, getting ready to lecture you on having such a young tank with so many inhabitants. Haha.

Where are the LFS's that you frequent? I'm only ever in DT vancouver and only know of one LFS in that area.

haha thanks for the welcomes everyone and compliments on my intro ;)
glad you all like it! hehe

i tested some parameters of the water today and so far it looks G R E A T!!!!!!!!! im pretty happy thus being my first tank, im going to test some more tomorow to make sure everythings going in the right direction.

and as for lfs i go to ocean aqutics in delta, 90% of the time, theyre awesome, very knowledgeable staff and have lots of stock and qualaity stuff, the stores not the prettiest or in the best area but hey, "its whats inside that counts" ;D
the other 10% i go to petsmart for smaller tank items like tubing etc etc just cause its closer to my house
