Ok my parameters are perfect. ie NH3-NO2/3, Ca2+, Mg, PO4, pH, salinity, kH etc

in less than 24 hours the yellow fluorescence has sloughed off and is showing a thick white inner mesentary layer and parts of a brown skeleton.

Tank mates includen b&w damsel, snowflake eel, and fuzzy dwarf lionfish

    Please help, suggest something!

Maybe see what happens. Sometimes it takes a few days for corals to get "happy". Others chime in.

how did you acclimate it? and do you know the sg of the tank where it came from? could be in a bit of a shock if there was a big sg difference. give it some time since its just new.

I didnt acclimate it bc the its a trusted system, they keep the sg at 1.025 as do I.

Im just growing concerned bc its starting to show its brown skeleton, and am praying this is the beginning of the end for this guy!

salinity is only one part of the equation. what about ph ca alk etc? i would give it some time it may just be shocked. is that the coral in question? if all other corals are good im sure it will be fine. how big is ur tank?

Definitely give it time. Candy canes can be very shy when they first get in a system. Mine also likes to act like it's dying every once in awhile.

You should always acclimate your corals. Even if everything in both systems is the same, many things can change while your coral is in the bag. Then if you throw it in with no time it can be a big shock.

Yes lesson learned, and hopefully not at the cost of losing life. I will definitely acclimate them if not start to quarantine them after dipping them.

They look better now, well at least they've stop the degenerating process. There are some tiny fluorescent pieces still in the water column here and there where they sloughed off some tissue.

All the other corals are great, my Dwarf Fuzzy seems to like to hang out on the frag rack. Maybe he is aggravating them? All the others seem to not mind him. This tank is a 40 with a 20G sump/refugium fwiw.

Thanks so much guys. Every bit helps. :)
