candy cane has split-skeleton showing

I don't think this is normal. Has anyone experienced this?
(split is at top of picture) skeleton is visible but it's an impossible angle to photograph.
Thanks for any help.

 

mine do that from time to time. Maybe something was messing with it, crab or fish, or bristle. It should be fine, the rest looks good and healthy. I would hit it with a small burst of flow every few days until it heals.

 

mine do that too ... I think certain nutrients make it swell and split a little ...

 

I did have the coral in a small hole so that my mental-case hippo tang would stop grabbing the coral and dragging it around the tank. I think the hole placement might have caused (or helped cause) the split.
But it is comforting to hear that others have had this happened, and didn't loose the coral.

 

Tang's are comical ... and industrious ...

I got two babies a Naso I call Naz "T" nasty booger likes to get in front of a camera

and Perp is a Purple Tang that is a sweetheart ... they got unique personalities ...

I was worried a bit about putting Perp in with Naz - but Naz instantly fell in love with the new friend ...

I have a neon thats a sort of greenish yellow and every time I look I have to make sure someone didn't knock it down.

think it's bright and that is why it gets targeted for the knock down.
