I've had a candy cane now for a few weeks and wanted to make sure that it's been getting enough to eat and looks healthy. I think that it's skeleton is showing a bit on 2 of the heads but I wanted to get a more experienced opinion on them. I've been feeding a small cut of marine fusion food about once a week at night for all the filter feeders in the tank. A Candy cane should benefit from this, correct? I've tried target feeding when it's feeders were out with some cyclopleeze but I really didn't see any of it stick.

Any suggestions on getting it to eat if it's not healthy? I heard putting a single mysis against when it's feeders are out works. Not really sure how you go about doing that though, baster?

Looks OK, they puff out and shrink back. Use a pair of forceps (tweezers) to place the mysis. I think your feeding regimen is fine.

Just as an update on this, this candy cane is in dire straights now. I haven't seen it extend it's feeding tentacles at night now for at least a week. I have a trumpet coral just out of picture above and it's *thriving* (actually splitting into big healthy new polyps). I was under the impression that both trumpets and candy canes require similar lighting/flow/food/water requirements so it doesn't make much sense to me that one would be doing so well while the other would be dieing 5 inches to the left.

Does anyone have any tips that will bring the feeding tentacles out? I've heard that I need to take a 2 liter bottle, cut the bottom off, then put that over the coral and squirt food inside to keep it contained. Is this the only/best solution?
