Im getting ready for QT tank and planning on using canister filter. It comes with those media (sponge, ceramic, etc). Is it better to just use those media? or crushed corals/dry rocks/ rubbles as I have a bunch left?

You will want some sort of live biological media so if the extra rubble is wet and live it would be good to use. Otherwise using the media that comes with the canister is fine and will become live (ceramic) shortly.
