Can I take a canister filter, empty the media and them stuff it with lr rubble? This would be for nitrate reduction. What do you guys think?

No, LR and a light wouldn't do anything for Nitrate control. Live rock rubble could make for a decent nitrite/ammonia reducer (more biological filtration) But wouldn't help for nitrates, in fact you would probably just lock up foods that would break down and increase the nitrates.

eheim 2213 is what i have now, so i would just get another one its sort of see through green but i was thinking of assembling an actual refugium but i dont want to risk overflows and siphons so i was thinking of doing this-

10 gallon sump on the floor next to my tank
return line- mag something- not sure how much flow i would need yet
and then in the dt i would place another of the same model of the pump and hook some tubing from that back up to the sump, so I would have an even exchange of water and if the power went out, there would be no risk of anything overflowing! What do you guys think?
