    Hello,

I'm a newbie to saltwater aquariums. What i currently have is a 100gl tank and 30gl sump beneath the tank. I plan on keep fish with lr and some corrals. I don't know how powerful of a pump i should get.

My problem is that i'm on a budget. I have 1600.00 to get all of my equipment from pump/skimmer/lights/lr/ls. I was looking into getting the dolphin 4000/3000, but question it's need. DO i need a pump that powerful? Or should i go with a mag drive 36.

How reliable is the mag? THe cost difference is around 100.00. Dolphin is 290.00 and mag 36 is 190.00.

    Thanks

If your just looking for a pump as a return pump from the sump to the tank and have less than 10ft of head pressure, all you need is a Mag12 or something similar. Those pumps are over kill unless to have some special plumbing needs. Those larger pumps will also eat electricity. Mags are very reliable pumps IMO.

thanks! That was what i was thinking, but wasn't sure. THe dolphins/sequence are overkill, but it didn't want to compromise my tanks health. I guess a mag drive it is.
