    Hello,

As i mentioned in my last thread, I couldn't get my Goby Diamond to eat, he will just sifts the pellets and dont care for flakes either, as for shrimp, I only have acces to normal raw shrimp which he was unable to swallow (i believe this guys can't chew so they need to be able to swallow the food=.

Anyway, I don't have acces also to the cube meaty food some members suggested to me, so I thought what if I get the pellets wet and once they are soft i can just make big round and soft food chunk. And that's what I did, as some one suggested a pillbox is a good place to put the pellets and pour some water, make sure the pellets get completely smashed (i used the upper side of a pen haha) and then just get a chunk of it and make it round with your hand. Store the pillbox in the fridge and you have enough for a week at least.

It sinks really fast and I just make sure to scare the tomato clown from getting to it and put some sand over it. My goby who wouldn't eat since the day i bought him, is now loving this chunks .

Whatch out for the clownfish they are really smart!!, mine actually used his side fin to dig into the sand to get the food!!..

    Hope this helps, cheers!!

I agree with you on the survival rate, however if you take away the carpet surfing percentage, I believe chances are 60% of survival ¿¿¿?? I dunno I only have 3 weeks of experience with SW, I just read the forums hehhe..

My diamond goby eats like a horse. My trick was to put some frozen bloodworms in there and that intrigued him so he learned food floating down was cool. Then I moved to garlic flakes...he loves those. Now he eats any and every type of food I put in there...pellets, flakes, mysis...swims up to the middle of the tank to steal food from other fish. In between that he returns to his life of sift, sift, sift. He is a fat little pig so it definitely is possible to sustain these fish.

    * I do agree on the flying fish thing though. You must have a secure cover for these guys.

Good stuff. I have a Tiger Wardi that I have had for 8 months now. Luckily he eats everything I feed. I confirmed he was eating prepared foods at the LFS before purchase, which was a big help I would think. He really can't eat flake or other really soft foods, as they just sift through his gills, but has no problem with any meaty foods or pellets.

    Good luck with yours!

It is IMO a diet issue.Marshall has stated what the main problem with them is.They look to be eating when in fact they are sifting.:(
Variety of foods is always the way to go and people who do that are usually a little more successful with them however, long term success stories with these kinds of fish/inverts are few and far between IME.

We have a pink spot goby that I got from a local reefer. We have had him a year, and guy before us for 3 years. He eats pellets, flake, frozen food and anything else he sees floating by that he can eat. He really doesn't sift a ton anymore, just every now and then. But is fat and happy.
