Not true, a Tek 6x54w will fit over a 55, I have one over my 55. The actual fixture is a little wider then the tank, but the bulbs fit perfectly over the tank.

it really depends on the fixture and reflectors. current orbit 6 bulb t5 fixture without slr's fits perfect. but its tight thats for sure.

Again, thanks for all your input everyone. I did contact JustPhish and have not heard back on if the TX5 is in stock. I have my doubts it is, as the manufacturer is out and all online vendors have been backordered for sometime now. Many of them don't list an "in stock" status and it seemed they were available, but all were not really in stock.

After calculating the cost of the TX5 + riser brackets + 5 bulbs, I ended up changing my mind. I have a baby girl on the way and I couldn't justify the $ as it was about $600+, that's a lot of baby stuff :).

On the 6bulb tek fitting over my 55g, the bulbs would fit but the fixture itself is too large to mount comfortably over as I have hob equipment that it would hit on the back. I cannot hang it and it wouldn't work for me unfortunately.

I ended up going with the TEK 4-bulb standard fixture with
2 ATI Blue Plus, 1 ATI Aquablue and a 1 KZ Fiji Purple for bulb combo. The Elite was a bit tempting but again the baby trumps the tank & every little bit counts yknow.

I'm excited to get the TEK and working with reefgeek I got a very nice price with bulbs and mounting brackets/splash guard. They are awesome to work with, highly recommended.

Thanks! I know it would have been wiser in the long run to get the TX5 or 6-bulb TEK but I think this one will be nice for now. I'm upgrading from a Coralife PC fixture and the individual reflectors on the TEK combined with the high PAR of the bulbs should be a huge upgrade, can't wait. I will dabble a little in SPS and maybe try another clam but my tank is stuffed at the moment with softies & euphs.
