It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's 10 ml per my RedSeaPro test kit,

Put 10 ml of water in container, draw up .9 ml reagent (there is 1 ml in the tip), add .4 ml shaking the entire time and continue one drop at a time until solution turns pink.

Odd. Mine says 10 mL for alk., 5 mL for calc. and 2mL for mag.

When you fill the syringe, make sure you do so with the tip on. Pull the bottom of the black rubber stopper up to the 1.0 mL mark. There will be a gap of air roughly 0.2 mL markings between the meniscus of the reagent and the bottom of the stopper.

By solution, you're talking about the orange reagent?

What is your Alk. Pro test reading?

I don't have it any more and the solution is the regenant what you add to get your reading. It says one drop shake 10 seconds and repeat till it reaches orangeish. But it never changes from water to even the start color blue

Alk of 12 is fine if you are not dosing anything. You want a lower level for carbon dosing but if you are not than it's fine.

What salt mix are you using?

I guess the kit was faulty, that's too bad. My tank is currently right at 12 dkh on the money right now. I had mine at 10 before bumping it up (actually dropped to 7.8). I think my growth rate has accelerated since I bumped it up.

I do put carbon in on occasion. Not very often what will it do?

I use Red Sea pro salt mix
