I agree with the previous posts that ich is something that lies dormant in your tank waiting for a fish to become stressed before it attacks. Just FYI coral beauties as a whole tend to stress easily. It does not surprise me one bit that yours got ich when he was introduced. I wouldn't stress out about it to much if he's dealing with it and the ich isn't actually killing him. I can tell you from personal experience that they are more prone than other fish to ich. In all honesty I would get him a cleaner shrimp and let them become good friends. (This is of course assuming that you don't get a killer ich episode. Most of the time coral beauties can cope)

i am battling with ich also reefkeeper. Hang in there, make sure everyone is eating, soak food in some garlic and vitamins, and do your water changes. This is my 2nd ich breakout due to buying a hippo tang and ive been doing what ive just said and hes slowly fighting it off. Looks a little better everyday and he had it bad.

I haven't tryed garlic or vitamins yet and have read that alot of this guys use this . Is there any brand better then others? I'm willing to try anything that might help. Right now I feed B-shrimp/Formula Two .Should I be trying to use other kinds of food to maybe make them more healther ? thanks!

Hey reefkeeper, good that things are getting better...hippo gets better every day. I use seachem garlic, everytime i feed i use it and chemi vitamins. Soak for about 30-60 mins, i do 20% water changes weekly and if its a tang or an angel make sure u are getting them a good variety of veggie flakes. I use the 2 little fishes brand algae sheets, all three....red, purple and green. U never know what they will like and eat so i clip it all together and let them pick....i would think it would be good for your angel fish to, my flame angel loved it. I also kept lites off for most of the day, maybe 2 hours a day to help relieve fish stress. Also if u can afford it throw a uv sterilzer on the tank, i picked up a aqua medic 9 watt uv just throw the added help in there for the fish. It was only 65 bux, Most said its wattage was to small to have an effect on ich but it seems to be working in combination with all the other things...makes water crystal clear to. Anyway good luck, keep us posted and ill try to do the same. As much ich enemies u can put on the front line the better.

Good to hear back from you.
These fish are like our own kids aren't they? we worry so much when there sick!! The things we do to make them better!
As far as the vitamins and garlic goes I'll take everyones advise and start using it .I also do water changes once a week 5 gal, I have a 46 gal tank , to you, does that sound about right?
I have a yellow tang and give him Ocean Nutrition green marine algal, it likes that! I would like to get a Flame Angle to ,but don't know how or if it will get along with my Coral Beauty.
I've asked about the UV before on here and was told that it would help out ,but not to use it all the time because it also kills the good bac. along with the bad .How do you use yours? hey, Karma for the help!!

    Maybe its your fish store

    HI,
I feel your pain I have noticed that some of my local stores are more prone to problems , One of my local stores adds copper to their fish only tanks as a precaution if you buy a fish it goes home 3 days later its sick off copper.
Finally not sure if this has helped me or not.
I had a nasty problem so I bought a UV sterilizer and put it in the sump , its a 18 wats and has the right pump for that size light, very important to slow flow if your killing protazoa, versus bacteria, some feel its also improves water quality due to its ionizing effects on the water.
I haven't seen any ich on anything new or otherwise since installed.
