Limewater is fine to use but read up on it!! Can be dangerous !!
It Will raise your calcuim but not as much as dosing would. It will buffer your alk and calcium but if overdosed it will elavate levels and cause a snow storm and high alk.

You can get the single use ph calabration solution for 95 cents on dr foster smith or amazon or brs
Get the 7.0 and the 10.0.

ok, updating since I now have good readings. Silor, you were right. My API test was bad and of course the probe needed to be recalibrated b/c I had never done so. Got that done and am back to report new readings. (This is for 2 days. Day 1-Day 2 respectively)
In the AM just before lights come on, my tank reads 7.59-7.63 ph. In the evening, after lights out, 7.79-7.82. Sorry this took so long, but I had to wait on the solution. This reading is without a limewater drip.

glad to report that i managed to have an 8.04-8.14 all day today.... what i did was raise the calcium to 520 and ran a hose from my skimmer outside to suck in fresh air, not sure which one did the trick but so far so good. im also running lime water auto top off (bout 3 gallons a day into a 200 gal system) but i have been running lime water drip for over a month already
