I'm no computer whiz but have you tried to restore your computer to a time when everything was working right? Helps me sometimes.

This sounds like an IP issue to me. Have you tried unplugging your modem for a few mintues and plugging it back in?

Which browser are you using? Is it up to date?

    Agreed. Then reboot.

Give up on IE and move to Firefox 3.5.

But if you're going to stick w/IE (I'm assuming you're using it), go to Tools -> options -> General Tab -> Temporary Internet files section -> Settings button -> select "Every visit to the page"

Or just set your browser to dump your temp files and cookies everytime you close the browser... though that can be kind of a pain in some respects...

I don't even know what IE looks like anymore, stopped using it years ago, too many issues.I now have firefox, flock and safari(due to having an iphone).Simple, stable and effective browsers without all the add-ons.
Glad you got your problem solved.

can do a full reset on IE it fixes most issues with it I've seen, tools > internet options > Programs > Reset Web Settings

I run into issues that require it all the time at work, personally I use firefox for my browser though

And to add most of the anti-spyware tools I use for work are either super anti-spyware or malware bytes.
