    am building a 135 gal tank n 40 gal sump all from scratch along with the stand n hood.. lighting in the works as typeing.. hopeing to have done in about 2 to 3 weeks n have to trasnfer all to new tank when finished so am not getting anything till tanks finished n set.. am sooooo dyeing to get corals but current light isn't enough so am waiting... uuggggg ;) will be psoting build some time soone...

    are they dying right after you add or shortly after? maybe the way your acclimating them??

    shortly after.. the pep were dead within 24 hrs. i ALWAYS with everything i have ever gotten slow dripped for at least two hrs before adding them to my tank..

    maybe try a shorter acclimation? I always add the store water to a container and add 1/2 cup of my tank water every 5 minutes for aprox 30-45 minutes.....knock on wood seems to have worked for me.

    ok thought i'd try again.... when i first get the cleaner i started putting in kent iodide.. scince none have lasted longer than 24 hrs.. i really don't think i have copper in the tank for i have never put it in n i use n ro/di system.. yesterday i got a purpple lobster n true to form it didn't make it....... so the question would be raither then copper could i have too much iodide in system n that's what's doing it???? i will have a copper test by the end of the week.. if is copper and or iodidie how do i go about getting it out?? fish still doing great!! thanks

    This is your problem, Levels above whats found in natural seawater can kill inverts and in extra high doses can be toxic to fish as well. Get a test and start with water changes to start bringing it down.

    There's no reason you should be dosing iodide in the tank. I would quit dosing everything and do some water changes before adding another invert.

    No need to dose iodide in a new tank with few corals if doing regular water changes. Rule of thumb; if you dont test for it, dont dose it!

    As mentioend above it is probably an iodide toxicity issue or copper. It could really be any trace metals but those are the 2 most likely culprits. Lead from pipes if using tap water, leaching from rock or silicone that was previusly used while exposed to some metal, or any other metal will do it. Inverts and corals will be the first to let you know if you have a trace metal toxicity issue and when they drop dead for no good reason that is the first thing msot suggest you explore.

    ok thanks guys!! i haven't dosed anything scince i lost the peps... thanks again. just figured i needed it scince i add the inverts... ooppss... still learning
