    This just sucks.

    Many of you know I work for NASA.

    What I am now working on is inherently political and very sensitive. If you follow the news at all relative to NASA, you know exactly what I am working on. Yes, I've been assigned to THAT team.

    Regardless of the no politics rule on 3reef, what I am working on is too sensitive and I couldn't talk about it anyway.

    The stress on my team is unreal. One extended team member had a heart attack a few days ago. Yes, diet and genetics play a role, but still.... stress does too.... and the stress is unreal.

    I have only seen NASA like this once before.... the day after Columbia. I was on the Columbia Recovery Team. I had friends that were astronauts that died on Columbia. I'll never get over pieces of Columbia but in some ways this seems worse. I know that is bad to say, but its true. Columbia was horrible. Being the field for months finding the pieces, finding the crew. Talking to my friend's wife and children after returning about what we learned. It was horrible... but we all knew the risk. We are in a risky business. This is worse because it impacts tens of thousands of people. This is worse because there is no technical solution. This isn't about technical risk. It isn't a "solvable" problem.... and I can't talk to anyone... lean on friends for support. In Columbia, the whole world reached out to support.

    This just sucks. My admin lead is near throwing up most days with stomach pain from stress... Everyone is walking around with black circles under their eyes from lack of sleep.

    Hope that made sense. I venting about not being able to vent. I can't talk about this issues or the problems.

    :cry::cry::cry:

    I will say one thing... if you want to get the "really cool" aspects of a job, I guess there is another side to the coin. This sucks, we are firmly on the other side. My job now is to find a way back to the cool side.

    Uggghhh...

    feel free to pm me if you need to vent, I worked in the CBP datacenter for the last 3 years as the 3rd shift incident response manager (technology systems) and also started my IT career building the network in the capitol buildings for the Architect of the Capitol - I believe I am well qualified to handle your venting :)

    Thanks... yes, you can search some of my old posts where I describe what I do. Coolest job in the most of the time... not at the moment.

    Appreciate the PM offers as well, but can't. Can't even talk to my wife about the details.

    It isn't "secret", or I wouldn't be posting this at all. It is hugely sensitive. Tens of thousands of jobs hang in the balance of what happens in the next weeks and months. That many jobs equals lots of money and that much money equal lots of motives and agendas. The world of politics looks bad from the outside.... you can't imagine what it is like on the inside.
