Newer volkswagens are really expensive to maintain and repair. I wouldnt own one personally unless it was pre mid-nineties or new with a warranty. But I like your idea on fixing stuff up. My first car was a 1970 Beetle. Bought it when I was 15 for $200, and at that time stray cats were living in it. When I got rid of it, it had a 2275cc turbo motor, ran 11's, and sold for 8G's :D

wow... now i would fix it up, but not to that extent! haha, although i guess if you did get all that done for less than $5k then you made a good decision, and i may have to try that. ;D

I had about 6 in receipts, but did all the work myself besides the paint. If your mechanically inclined you can make a beetle scream for very little money. And I challenge you to find acheaper car to insure lol.

a beetle would be cheap to insure? i mean, the only beetle i would drive is the new turbo one, or the older one like you had
