    You have to call your insurance and check your policy. If you dont have it then you'll have to sue him.

    You only have to learn the lesson of uninsured driver insurance once a lifetime. From my dealings with lowlifes and small claims, you'll never really get paid back, but you might get something. Maybe the guilt will cause your folks to get you another ride.

    Depends on what state you live in. Michigan has no-fault insurance, meaning no one is to blame for the accident, his insurance covers him and yours you. It also has a tort law saying if you sue him for property damages only, you are only entitled to around $500 max. This is to prevent frivolous lawsuits for people who do not carry enough insurance.

    Sorry about your loss, but metal is replaceable and people are not. Silver lining here is that no one you care about was hurt.
