Well I have had the BRS dual reactor for a few months now, but never used it. Over the last few days the water is a little cloudy. Not as clear as I would like it. I just did a water change today and decided to hook it all up. I put some gfo and carbon in the respective reactors and used a bucket to get the black/brown coloring out. Then moved everything to the sump. So how long should I let the reactor run? 2 weeks? Then shut it off for awhile? Or just go by the tank and run it until the water is clear, run a few more days after that then shut it down until I need it again? Thanks for the help.

You can turn it off if you want but I wouldn't let it sit long without turning it on again unless you replace the media. Some funky bacteria will start to grow without water movement. I replace once a month and run continuously.

as stated above. it's a good idea to run continuously and replace once a month. use the calculator on BRS's site for how much media to use. it's fairly accurate.
