    Thank you Magnus
problems with the 4ft, meant that these 4 units had to be used at temporary holding tanks for additional rock
thus experiment did not start at weekend as I had originally hoped

they did get a good clean out as a result
and one last distribution of water between the 4 tanks
but they are now on their own

I think the dosing into the tanks of Vodka and Biofuel may prove more effective also in this scenario
and it will be interesting to compare those 2 set ups against the one, that just runs GFO

been working out my initial dosing / addition regime for the 4 tanks

Tank 1 - 2 table spoons of GFO and it will be changed every other week
accompanied by 10% water changes each week

Tank 2 - 0.05 mils Vodka on days 1, 2 and 3 then 0.1 mil on days 4,5,6 and 7 - there after a weekly increase of 0.1ml until levels measure 0 thereafter cut whatever dosage I have reached in half
combined with 10% weekly water changes
basically, I have scaled down what I did on the 90 (Genetics Vodka dosing plan)

Tank 3 - Bio fuel - 1 mil each day until zero readings on test kits, there after 0.5 mil each day , again combined with 10% weekly water changes

Tank 4 - BP bio pellets - going to go with 50 mils total in my 48 litres of water (which is about half way on their scale of 50 - 200 mils per 100 litres of water)
again combined with 10% weekly water changes

additions of Bio Fuel and Vodka in their respective tanks will be made using a spare syringe, thus dosing accuracy should be easy to achieve

Ok - we are off and running as of Saturday 11th June

    apologies for non rotated image
2 table spoons Rowaphos - in reactor Atman pump on lowest setting
additional sponge from the pellet reactor used in here to help prevent fines escaping to tank

    tank 2 - 0.05 mils Smirnoff added

tank 3 - 1 mil of bio fuel added

tank 4 - 100 mils N and P bio pellets added (50 looked pathetic in this sized reactor)

return spout of reactor held above water so flow could be checked
prior to adjusting to lowest pump turnover

    tanks 1 and 4
the increased water flow, has naturally disturbed some areas of settled detritus
tanks are both very cloudy right now
will get images up of the algae status of both these tanks tomorrow when it has cleared

and for the pellet users, if you could check out the tumble I have achieved and let me know if it seems OK, that would be helpful - below is a link to the Photobucket video

That's a bit higher tumble on the bio-pellets than I use on mine. I usually keep it high enough so the entire media looks fluid, but just under where the top layer starts popping up above the rest. If I remember right, I had a hard time getting this dialed in correctly for the first few weeks while the media and reactor were still new though.

Can't wait to see the results of this experiment!

    Thanks Sacul1573
plenty of greens, reds and browns, that for certain

thank you R33F - I may well adjust flow down again then as it such a large reactor and such a small amount of media, this has not helped really with getting the flow rate

    thanks bioreefdude

3rd day today, Vodka dosed in tank 2 - 0.5ml - tomorrow it will be 1 mil
Bio Fuel , 1 mil in tank 3
other tanks left alone for now - nothing to do

all skimmer cups cleaned out Friday evening
thus far there does not seem to be any measurable difference, between the quantity and quality (in terms of darkness) of the skimmate being collected in each cup
