    Thank you Newreef15
sounds like a good choice to me, but do not expect overnight changes
mine took over 20 days to show me any signs of benefit.

    Thank you Bluestag

    Update

this GHA covered rock, is the most green algae covered piece of rock and it was one of the top rocks in the Bio fuel tank 3

This piece of rock was the cleanest in terms of green algae and was the top rock in the Bio pellet tank 4

Today I moved that piece of rock from tank 3 to tank 4

lets see what happens to that GHA now
will it continue to grow as it did in the Bio Fuel treated set up
or will it gradually fade away, as previous GHA has done in the pellet run set up

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Ahhh moving stuff around! Interesting, throws a whole new variable into the mix. I like it.

    Thank you Cheryl
just wanted to use this to double check my findings thus far
if it continues to grow, then that particular rock may have a larger amount of bound up PO4 and thats why bio fuel maintained set up, failed to make an impact on it
if on the other hand it starts to recede (as GHA previously in the clean rock in pellet run tank did) it will support my original observations

    update today
3 days after being placed in the bio pellet maintained set up, that algae seems to be receding

there are the same number of snails in both set ups (2 in each) so I do not believe the difference is the CUC performance

update on Torch corals to come later
because the 3 torch corals in the bio pellet set up, are also looking a lot better in terms of expansion etc, than any of the corals in the other 3 set ups

    Thank you ReefBruh
its certainly interesting for me at this stage

    update

    Torch corals
    Tank 1 - GFO
    [IMG]

    Tank 2 - Vodka
    [IMG]

    Tank 3 - Bio Fuel
    [IMG]

    Tank 4 - Pellets
    [IMG]

as you can see the corals, all 3 of them in the bio pellet set up, seem much happier than the corals in the other 3 set ups
the corals in the other set ups have all experienced varying degrees of bleaching

the corals where placed in tanks in order from 1 - 4 - so basically the Torch frags that are now in the Bio Pellet set up, where stood the longest in bowls of water, after cutting, before being secured to rock and the transferred to tank , thus I do not feel handling is the issue
but that conditions in that tank, seem better for the corals than conditions in the other tanks

added individual digital thermometers, and will monitor temp between the 4 set ups, in case heat is an issue

    additional update with observations

    sand beds

    Tank 1 - GFO
    [IMG]

    Tank 2 - Vodka
    [IMG]

    Tank 3 - Bio Fuel
    [IMG]

    Tank 4 - Bio Pellets
    [IMG]

now all these set ups where equally algae infested early days
but as you can see now, the Vodka dosed and pellet maintained set ups, seem to have cleared up faster than the other 2 set ups

NB - the Bio Fuel dosed tank, seems to be the only one in which the algae on the sand bed is increasing rather than decreasing in quantity

    other notable observation

    Tank 2 - Vodka
there is a bacterial mass/ string build up on the lead from the thermometer to the temp probe , its the only set up where this has happened
no sign of this being repeated on rock work or other plastics in that set up as yet

There's certainly no dispute at this point over which method is safer for the corals and more effective against algae... I'm impressed!

wow this thread is amazing! I kind of put bio pellets on the back burner because people say it can have negative effects on LPS corals, but from your experiment, I'd have to say it's opposite!

I just may take my GFO offline and use biopellets!! thanks for this!
