    Does everyone use it? I've was thinking of doing away with it. Good/bad idea any thought ?

    Carbon is a great thing in smaller tanks with soft corals or leathers. It prevents yellowing of the water and removes some odors.

    Currently I am not using carbon, just out of pure laziness. I will restart again when I order on line again.

    Like pretty much everything in this hobby use it with moderation, more is not better. Use a quality carbon, they are all not created equal. Carbon makes me feel like I have a little extra edge over things that may become toxic in my tank or foul the water.

    Usually I keep some on hand.

    +1 with coralline. definitely gives that edge with missing out a little on tank husbandry.

    I've always used carbon, and always will. Unlike a skimmer, carbon removes both organic and inorganic impurities, as well as many toxins, such as that from coral warfare, etc.
