I looked at this odd thing every time I have turned on my lights for a short time thinking it was dirt and debri coming out of a hole on a piece of live rock, then last night in total darkness I put a flashlight to the glass to see if there are any little creatures out and about, when I noticed 6 to 8 tentacles coming out of the same hole, but these tentacles I have not seen during the day, then again to my suprise I took a closer look and there is no hole, dirt or debri, but some kind of mushroom, the tank has been set up for about 3 weeks and I am cycling and curing the rock all at the same time, so I am suprised that I found more survivor animals on this rock, in center there are some white nipple things sticking up, maybe 4 of them, you might be able to see them in this poor pic, the tentacles which are not there now were about half inch long, the same color as the animal with white stripes. I will try to get another camera to get better pics, I really would like to id this thing.

That camera is awful, worst closeups ever, I should had stayed with 35mm SLR instead of going digital, ohhh!! auto focus, junk! I will try moving the rock some to get as close as I can and get a clear pic and a better angle on the animal.

I have a better pic, this animal no doubt has tentacles, 8 of them around half inch long that circle the center. but they still can't be seen in this pic.

I thought maybe it was a Ricordia, but 2 things are different, my animal has 2 mouths and the long tentacles, Ricordia does not have these features.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
While I do not know, John at Reefcleaners.org may know.

I would hazard to say a rock/flower anemone or a close relative of a corkscrew.
