Do high grade or exspensive sands like caribsea fiji-pink and others require rinsing with freshwater first.
....are there any types that dont need to be rinsed

None of the aquarium sands require rinsing to my knowledge. The ultra fine grains in the mix will serve as fantastic "houses" for all kinds of beneficial bacteria. If that Caribsea is "aragalive" - the "live" sand version - then absolutely no rinsing!.

I picked up the live sand and no you dont rinse But it will cloud your water to high hell, if your adding the sand to start up a new tank i recommend only about an inch of water in the tank till the fine particles have time to settle out, which can take up to 48 hours or longer. (mine took 3 days) IT comes with some stuff that's suppose to make it clear up faster but I have no idea if it worked. I recommend the lower volume of water so it has less place to disperse so it can settle faster, I added the sand then filled the tank and it was cloudy for ever it felt.

If you rinse the live sand in freshwater you basically killing all the live in the sand.

If your buying like playground sand(which I've heard of people putting that in the bottom of the tank to act as filler if they have to buy a lot of sand, i guess it will become seeded if you but a little live sand and coat it.) Playground sand I recommend rinsing because it's basically void of life that you want so washing out the extra fine particles cant hurt. But like said before the smaller particle play a house to the good bacteria.

I used Fiji-Pink and it cleared up in a couple of hours with no mechanical filtration what-so-ever. All I did was add the sand to an empty tank, add rocks, then pumped the water over the rocks so the sand did not get disturbed. After that I filled the tank up and left the return pump off while just running power heads. The tank cleared up soon afterwards. After a week or two, the finer particles will sink to the bottom, so no need to filter them out.
