No, just tested. 440. I don't dose but I don't have stony corals that suck it out either. I have snails that pull it out for their shells but its replaced easily by the water changes that I do.

it could have been many things, agression in the tank, stray electric current, bad water etc.

Maybe it was just its time. Never saw it being picked on by all the hours I watch the tank. I did feed shrimp for Albert this morning and saw her eating some. Karma maybe?:-X

They live longer than that. We put some in our tank at our old house and over time they disappeared. When we broke down the tank to move, we found a monster peppermint shrimp in the overflow. It was a beast.... and 4 years old at that point.

EDIT: I wasn't amused at the time I found it. Deep black overflow.... I reach down inside.... and something large and unexpected starts picking at my nails!!!!! I went through the roof!

WOW. I would love to see that! Well, like all organisms, each individal's longevity is different.

Sorry to hear that shrimp are very entertaining and have a lot of personality.

re: shrimp age. IME, 3 years is probably pretty old for a shrimp. The big ones are probably a year or more already.
