What is your take on a Carpenter Wrasse in a 30 gallon tank?

I've gotten mixed answers on this...

Also, will it do well with a coral beauty and a bicolor psuedo?

30 gallons I feel is a bit small, as they are very active. But most sites say 30 gallons as the minimum, some say 50.

Should do fine with the coral beauty, I would be worried about the bicolor pseudo, especially the two of them in 30 gallons. That is one of the most aggressive fish in the trade.

The bicolor is my newest addition and almost was killed by my 6line... The sixline was harassing it to the point where I gave up and had to break down the whole tank and have to return it becasue it was bothering my clown as well...

Since then the bicolor seems to be doing his own thing and not harassing anyone or anything, he is also the smallest in the tank as well

Since the bicolor is fairly new (a few days) you think it would be safe to get the wrasse now, before the bicolor claims a territory ?

I say too small, especially with the tankmates. There's not enough room for them to get away from each other.

As for the difference, it's really just coloration. Carpenter's has more yellow, McCosker's has more burgundy. Wet Web has a nice write up on flashers: Paracheilinus

I had a male Carpenter's & 3 females in a 38 gallon tank. When the male was in flashing mode, he was all over that tank, even skimming the top of the water. Just when he'd get up speed, he'd have to turn around. I'd say 30 is too small, I felt bad for mine in the 38. Also, he's not going to flash with no females to show off for. When he finally died, one of the females turned male, which was interesting!

I will be getting some for my new 55! :D

Let me look through my short vids & see if any of them are decent enough to post a link to so you can see what I mean about needing room (lengthwise).

First one, barring the 2 out of focus areas, shows him off. Second one shows him cruising fast.
