Carpet anemone care

Does anyone know why they say a tank should be a year old before adding a carpet anemone?

I started my tank from another and never really had a cycle. It is 9 months old. I'd like to add a carpet and clowns to it but wanted to make sure params are correct before I do it.

 

I do not see an issue with adding a Carpet as long as parameters are stable.

Remember they are fish eaters even clowns not acclimated to that individual anemone.

What type of lighting do you have?

 

Two 120w blueline LEDs over a 90.

 

This was the type of Carpet I had: Saltwater Aquarium Invertebrates for Marine Aquariums: Carpet Anemone, Assorted

It was for the most part a very hardy anemone.

LED lighting I can not address I had mine under T5HO.

It took roughly about 3 days for my clowns to acclimate to it. The first clown that dived right in was badly stung but did survive barely.

 

I hope my clowns do better than that.

Ill have to see what is in stock. I'm hoping for one of those striped varieties.

 

Carpets can eat even large fish. I have a buddy lose a sohal and an Achilles tang to one. Yes, he most expensive 2 fish in her tank

 

Yikes! I have a wrasse tank right now. Nothing too expensive. Yellow, green, and two flasher wrasses.

 

Very high lighting
Very stable params
Flow depends on species, IIRC
