    Hey,
I am living in Canada and it is snowing right now.
I have my 38 gallon tank that is sitting right next to a wall
The carpet on the right of my aquarium at the intersection of the carpet and the wall is wet while the left side is dry. I am very afraid of my aquarium causing mold to my carpet and wall!
Could the precipitation from the aquarium cause this?
any way of preventing this? as I really love my aquarium.
Also I did not spill any water so there should not be any spills.
Currently have a heater blowin at the carpet hopefully help reduce the wetness.

Is your tank fresh or saltwater?? I do not believe you can get mold from saltwater, since salt is a preservative. You can get salt build up or a outline from where the saltwater was after it dries, but I have never seen mold on rugs or walls from all my years around saltwater..

Can someone else confirm or deny this? :)

yes, it is a saltwater setup. If I remember correctly, we top off with normal r/o water so I take it that the normal water gets evaporated while the salt stays in the tank?

Carpet is not the best flooring for a fish tank. With that said I would check your filtration for any leaks. Then check your display tank. You might have a seal that was damaged. Let us know how you made out.

I checked everything. My filtration system are not leaking and my sump and everything is on top of plastic sheets (carpets that are wet are annoying as hell to dry). No leaks Anywhere. The only possibility is precipitation. Has this happened to anyone else?
I stripped out one part of the carpet, there is a strip of wood that is all wet and looks rotten. The foam looks alright, cept for it being a bit wet with a black lining where it touches the wood. Carpet itself doesnt look toooo bad. Underneath my carpet is concrete *in the basement) so should everything be okay? or should I be worried? =X..

Can you post a pic of your tank top and sump top?

about a month and a week.
Here is a thread, the layout kinda changed but generally the same. The sump now has 2 plastic mats under it that cover the whole thing and it is now horiziontal to the wall rather than vertical.

It's hard to believe that wood will rot that fast. Do you have an electric water heater, A/C handler or bathroom behind that wall?
