I would like to start a 75 gallon tank (AGA) I want to put in 2 snowfake eels and either a banded or marbled cat shark.

    Should this work?

180 at LEAST. they need length to run the tank. it's no use to "buy small" either. they can put on up to 12 inches in about a year and grow to over 40 inches as adults.

How long would you say they could live in the 75 gallon before moving to the 180?

It's not only the length that's a problem. Any fish needs a tank with at least 1.5 times their body length in width. IMO even a 180 is not big enough. You need something custom made with a larger footprint.

IMO if your not willing to buy a custom made tank don't even think about it.

I had one in a 220 and it was to small after a couple of years, you need a tank at least as wide as the fish is long or they cant turn around, ours after 3 years was around 30" long
