Beautiful tank. I love that birdsnest, and I can't get over that red mushroom. Looks awesome.

Light Update: I figured I would post some new pics of our new Aqualife Pro lights that have been up for a couple weeks now. They seem to be working nicely, initially one of the bulbs was bad but Dr.Fosters sent me a new bulb and every things great now.

These were my old t5 lights that we have used for about a year, the tank will be a year old at the end of April.

Here is the unboxing of the lights and putting them above the tank. I decided to hang them so our Cat can't lay on top , he likes the heat. I ended up using two brackets and hardwood boards to suspend em. I was hoping that it would be enough to hold em, has a support weight of about lbs, and so far no issues.

Here is a couple more angles and the finished product, I still want to remove the glass from the tank and also remove the marineland biofilter to clean it up a little.

So far I'm only running the MH's about 6 hours a day, I have notices that my frogspawn is loosing its color closer to the lights, hopefully it will acclimate soon. Everything else seems to be doing fine. Ill post some more current pics as soon as I have time to take them.

    Have a Great Day.

The fixture came with 2 150w 10000k halides, I may go with 14000k when I replace them eventually, they are a little too yellow for me, but they still look great and I am seeing more extensions on my corals plus my bubble tip anemone seems to be doing better, much fuller over the last couple weeks.

Kingterra, I'm using a 20d thats about 4 years old, my trick is that I take a lot of exposures and only post the best, lol the last pics didn't come out that great since I was in a hurry and just wanted to get it documented and posted. What type of photography are you into?

    Thanks

Well, I we had our first bta in a power head disaster Saturday.:(

It happened Saturday morning right as I was getting ready for work. One minute fine the next we had a shredded anemone all over the tank. Luckily I caught it quick enough, pulled the power head out that had the mass of the anemone on it, started to run a ton of carbon I just happen to have and did a 12 gal water change that I had been preparing to do the next day anyway.

As of today we haven't lost any fish, thank the fishy gods, and all our corals are fine as well, although we did have a strange smell and quite a bit of cloudiness sat and Sunday, seems to be better today.

Now our Maroon Clown is wandering all over the tank, but we won't be getting another anytime soon, maybe she'll host in our frogspawn or hammer coral.

Well heres another installment of pics from our reef.

We added a couple more items recently, a pagoda coral and a small clam. I'm not sure what type of clam it actually is so if anyone can give me any ideas that would be Fantastic. The Clam shots aren't the greatest since he's not facing forward but its the best I could do right now.

We also got a mandarin a couple months ago and he seems to be doing good as well, I an trying to grow some pods in a 10gal tank to supplement his diet plus I have added other microalgea to our fuge to help stimulate pod growth as well as taking our hob filter and converting it into a make shift fuge.

And here is some recent pics of the growth of our birdsnest since we got it.
