Catalina Aquarium Lighting

Went to two LFS about 45 minutes away from my house today. Both were garage operations but I was really impressed by the quality of livestock and the hospitality and knowledge of the owners. They were both friends who learned from one another and had several tanks each. The only lighting they used were from Catalina Aquarium Lighting. I had never heard of them before and they both said they have had excellent results from the discount fixures.

Does anyone have any expirience with these lights?

I haven't used that fixture, but I have used their PC fixture with no issue. I would avoid using their bulb though they don't seem to have much life to them.

 

My 260w CF that is over my 150g right now is a Catalina. I had ballast problems when I first bought it, one had to be replaced. Then the moonlight LEDs power transformer stopped working and needed to be replaced. Luckily I know how to fix this type of stuff and know how to solder. Their bulbs last about 4-6 months like 2in10 said. Personally, I don't like it. I wouldn't even feel right selling it, knowing it's not a quality fixture.

 

Did you mean your PC bulbs from Catalina didn't last?
2in10's comments were about a MH/T5 combo fixture.

I'm considering PC bulbs from Catalina some say they
are as good as Current USA but I'm investigating this.
