Ok so I want to catch a fish in my 75 reef without tearing it apart.I have tried the traps, hooks etc. No I am thinking why not shock it like they do for fish studies in streams and lakes. Anyone ever try it?

Yeah, I don't think shocking is a good idea. Try to net him during feeding.

if you are trying to catch your fish with a net, don't try to swoop him up right away, head on. fish are too fast, and they immediately see the motion. Try to move the fish close to the net with your other hand/net/cut off piece of plastic coat hanger etc... and then swoop him only at the last second. if you do the inverted soda bottle trick you have to be patient. It may take the right fish to trap a few hours. If you fed already that day that might be the problem too..
