So long story short my wife purchased a purple lobster and put it in my 220 as a surprise. The kid at the lfs told her it would be fine because they're reef safe. However I have several small fish in my tank and in two weeks I'm missing 3 wrasse and about 4 other fish. I bought a trap but I can't seem to catch this thing. I don't even see it ever. I've tried mysis, krill, and shrimp as bait. I'm trying squid tonight but does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can catch this thing before it eats anymore of my fish? Unfortunately I have hundreds of pounds of rock and about 40 corals so tearing the tank up would be next to impossible.

    Set a trap for it.

    No lobster is reef safe.

I've had a trap in there for weeks but the damn lobster won't go in it. I've tried just about everything for bait. I put new bait in every night. Pretty soon I'm gonna tear the tank apart but that will be a pain in the butt because of the 200+lbs of rock and all my corals. If I didn't have so many small fish I'd throw the big tessalata eel my lfs has in there and let him find the lobster for me.LOL

Change where the trap is located. Put it in a spot you know it walks through regularly.

I've had that trap in twenty different spots. It's really frustrating. So now I've been placing silversides on a rock every night where I'm pretty sure the lobster spends most of its time and they're getting eaten. After a week or so I'm going to put the trap there with the silversides inside and hopefully this will work if not hopefully the lobster is full and won't eat my damn fish.
