Well, I don't think I'm going to get rid of it yet. I'm going to go pick up a purple tang tomorrow. Add the purple to the tank after moving the rocks around. I'm going to add the Clown Tang after I get the purple tang settled over night. See how that works out .. any thoughts?

i got a big net, size is about 10" across
and i put in a seaweed flip at the very very top and he trusted me and came up to eat and i netted him very easily
felt kind of bad afterwards :S

Well, you guys have thrown out some absolutely great advice for me, but I have another question. This is essentially the first time I've mixed two of the same larger species and am a little worried. I've added the purple tang and the clown tang is in the sump, eating fine. I've been adding garlic to all food to prevent ich and the likes. At any rate, the purple tang went in and is starting to get comfortable. I've moved the rock around a bit, but one of structures is immovable (PVC). I'm planning on adding the clown tang tonight when the lights go out. Anyone see a problem with this?

Purple tangs tend to be pretty aggressive when compared to other tangs. You might have a problem when you add the clown tang back as you'll have two thick headed, stubborn and aggressive fish vying for territory. Just something to keep in mind.

Not sure - but this may have been the best post I have ever read. I will get back to you and let you know after my eyes stop tearing.

<--Imagining the look or horror on my wifes face when I set off a fraction of a stick of TNT in my tank.. Water splashing off ceiling ROFL!

Well, during the time that I had my clown tang out of the tank and in the sump I headed to the LFS. I found a beautiful Blonde Naso as well as a yellow tang that was hanging out with the purple tang in the 200g coral tank at the LFS. I waited to add the clown tang back in until I got these two home. I've not acclimated and added all tangs into the tank. Everything seems to be good between all tangs except for my clown tang doesn't seem to like the yellow tang(the smallest of them all at 2.5") too much. It's nothing serious yet, only chasing and a little fin nipping, but how long should I let this go on before I take the clown tang back, he's the most colorful and most active of the bunch, but I wouldn't mind keeping other fish other than him too :p

Wait till it is dark and remove the rock it sleeps behind/in, put the net in and use your hand to "scare" it out into the open where the net is waiting to get him.

K+ for the advice, but at this point it's not a matter of catching him. I just want to know how long I should allow the fin nipping and tail shaking to go on before it gets beyond establishing dominance and into the realm of possibly losing a fish?
