I have been trying to catch my Picasso Trigger fish because he has reached a point where he has been destroying my tank. He will literally eat anything he can get his mouth on and has now started beating on my fish and my new Nasso Tang. I have spent a good portion of the day trying to get him with no success. He is in an 75 gallon tank and my goal is to not remove the coral from the tank to just remove one fish. Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks on capturing a tricky and fast fish such as a trigger before he kills the Tang?

Try a tiny hook and line if worst case. Maybe a 12 or lower, triggers have hard mouths, just crush the barb.

I had to remove a damsel a year ago and the only way I got it out is I cut out a fiberglass divider the same width as my tank and chase my damsel on one side and put the divider down and then it was only me and him so I got him. I did not have to much rock in there then so don't know how well that would work but I figure I would share in case that gives you an idea. Good luck

yea no chance for a divider or something like that because of the reef. I was thinking of a hook in a worst case scenario haha using like a real small trout hook but not sure. i turned the lights out to calm him down and hes asleep now i just hope i don't awake to a dead tang.

I can vouch for the hook and line. get you a tiny brass hook. smallest one in the walmart tackle section. tie ti to some very small fishing line. put a small chunk of food on it so that he can get it all in his mouth at once. once in, give a gentle tug and you will hook him. make sure you flattent eh barb on the hook so you can easily remove it.

I had a Hawkfish that was pure evil. wanted to eat my male clown. it worked like a charm for that guy and he was not hurt at all.

If you don't want to use the trap you can try just leaving the net in there until he gets used to it.:-/
