Catching trops

    hello there guys im going to try and start to catch my own tropical fish (the ones im allowed to) and i was wondering if anyone has experience or any helpful tips and techniques, and which tools to use ?

    where exactly are you going to catch these fish? and what types are they?

    you will need to check local laws as in many places collection is illegal

    but a snorkel a buddy and a couple of large nets would be my choice as means of capture

    well im in the florida keys i've checked the laws and have a list of species that i can collect legally bag limits are no more than 5 of each kind and no more than ten per 2 day limit...there are many of which i want to catch but im aiming towards Volitan lion fish and have an aggressive tank just for them...

    I'd normally say not to catch wild fish, because of the effect on the ecosystem and such, but from what I've read I really don't think locals would mind it if you caught some lionfish because they are an invasive species. I would try something more like a plastic trap than a net, because of the spines, and I'd be very careful no to get stung.
