Funny thing happened over the past several weeks. A thumb sized piece of my cathedral leather coral fell off the main trunk and now seems to be doing fine on its own. The polyps are extending and it has all but healed where it broke off.

Is this common with leather corals? Nothing was touching this part, it just decided to self propagate i guess?

Very common - this is how a lot of the soft corals we keep in our tanks multiply.
