So my caularpa died and released its spores into my water column. This happened a few days ago. My only explanation of the death is that maybe my water is to clean, or perhaps it is related to a diatom outbreak I had after the intorduction of silicates from my new Korallia Evos. Either way I have since placed an order with Reefcleaners for some Chaeto. I also have been runnig carbon for two days now and this morning the water was almost back to normal. My fear is that these spores will take hold in my main DT and grow caulerpa there. To combat this I have fed sparingly in hopes that the Tangs will take care of the problem. Is there anything else Im missing that could be done to improve my success?

When was the last time you pruned it before went south?

It won't reproduce in your tank like that. Feed your tangs again.

It went sexual. I lost my last tank to grape caulerpa going sexual. Never knew it did until I got back into the hobby recently & started reading about it. Glad you caught it in time! I had even gone so far as to post a pic of it losing its color on RC back then asking what was up with my caulerpa & no one knew.

Pruning it can help this from happening.

If you see if going white, remove it before the lights come on the next morning. The is especially true of racemosa.

    About to blow....
