Caulerpa vs Chaeto Macro Algae

    Could you place Chaeto in a small critter box like they do octopus and such at LFS inside the sump or DT?

    When I was starting my DIY sump/macroalgae, I researched and quickly learned the evils of caluepera. (sp?). I went with chaeto fron the start, and glad I did.

    I started with a small clump that would easily fit in the palm of your hand, and now I have a huge section in my DIY sump of it. No substrate or sand in my sump, just an occas. filter sock/bag, my SC150 skimmer, and a Large area of chaeto, and return Pump.

    Works great.

    Not all caulerpa are beasts. The ones banned from California are invasive, the rest do not carry the same characteristics.

    I'm not trying to encourage people to use caulerpa with this pic ...... :)
