I think you're thinking of John Coppolino, username copps? I've read a lot of his threads and posts, he is definitely a forerunner in debunking angelfish myths; both large and dwarf.

Yes it is!!! Searched the username and found the thread. Thanks for the help, I hate to admit I sometimes wander over behind enemy lines :yelrotflmao:.

I loved his write up and feel like he could be a good inspiration for us and help us in our quest. I sometimes get crazy ideas and am probably viewed by many on here as a bit radical and irresponsible for trying to think outside the box. I do realize it is live specimans we are dealing with but refuse to believe many things cant or shouldnt be done or even attempted. I mean I would not put a queen angel in a 20gallon reef, or a french angel in ANY reef, but I do think we tend to be too inside the box and conservative for the most part. Studies have shown that fish and tank size is usually vastly overrated and an article with scientific data relating to blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol and parrotfish was written about it. Just like with mixing certain fish with reefs, which once again is something I think can be done with caution instead of just a dont even try it! Like mentioned, a Queen or French Angel in a reef, I dont think so!! But all these dwarf angels and even many butterfly fish can work in a reef.

Being that they are live animals and I would feel terrible if my stupidity directly caused them harm, I do not just willy nilly experiment. I feel that research needs to be done before hand, careful observation during, and backup plans if things dont work out NEED to all be met before you try to go outside the box of what is known to work. I feel like experienced members like Copps are an invaluable source of knowledge that have already done a lot of experimentation for us. We can try to follow their success and even better, continue further the knowledge of this hobby by continueing to replicate what they have achieved and push even further sometimes.

Ok enough of Hijacking your thread!! I could go on and on about many of these topics . I drive my wife nuts with how passionately I can talk about these kinds of things lol. Makes me wonder if I shouldve gone into marine biology instead of nursing sometimes. I should find that article with tank sizes again, I psoted it a long time ago on here and didnt get many replies but it was a good read.

I will often use other forums too. It just so happens that while, there are quite a few with plenty of experience here, not many actually talk about the science behind it, or go into the details that i prefer. As you said, expereince and information such as his should not be limited to just one forum. That being said, im only a member on 3reef :)

Thinking outside the box is usually what leads to commonly accepted ideas, within reason of course. Im sure at one point protein skimming was thought of outside the box etc. I'll send you a PM so we can talk further; undoubtedly this thread has run its course, only two people with potters. lol
