I bought some ceramic magnets from Home Depot yesterday.
I was planning to use them to make a ledge to put some eggcrate on to cover my fuge. I have glass baffles so no groves are cut into the baffles to prevent things from leaving my fuge and entering the return area.

    Are ceramic magnets reef safe?

    thanks

Why would you have anything in a refugium that could crawl out ? Its just a safe refuge for sand fauna pretty much as the term implies .

What is it that you want to prevent from leaving your fuge?

I"m guessing your wanting to keep the stray bits of Chaeto that drift off from clogging your return pump?

Sounds like it would work but I dont know what the magnets are composed of and if any metals would leach into the tank. Maybe you could encase the magnet with some inert epoxy?

If you can post a pic of your fuge I'm sure we can help you.

Maybe I can just glue an inch of egg crate acorrs the fuge baffle before it flows into the return area.

Another question, I just picked up the baffles from the glass store today. They are a snug fit. They slide into place but there is very little/no wiggle room. Is this a problem? I read somewhere else that sometimes tight fit baffles expand and have resulted in cracked sumps? Any thoughts/experience with this?
