How fast is this stuff supposed to grow? I have it in my refugium but does not seem to have grown at all since i have had the tank running. I over feed my tank. Only algae that grows is coraline and some brown stuff on glass i just scrape off.

Maybe there is just to much current going through? I have my sicce 3.0 pump on at full power(714gph). The refugium is in the middle of my sump so all the water passes through it.

Tank has been running for at least a month, i have just heard people saying they start with a tiny piece and within a month its over growing the refuge. And also is chaeto supposed to float? Because mine does not.

What sort of light do you have over it? I had 2 20 watt 24" t8 grow lights over it and it was turning clear and dying. I went to my local hardware store and bought a 5100 K cf bulb and it grew very well. I since have bought a 6500 K PAR 30 LED to save a little on electricity and it has grown out even more! Some of it will sink, eventually it will float. You do not need that much flow, I have an old UV internal filter that only puts out 80 gph on a 30 gallon fuge and that is plenty.

I've been having better growth since using iron and manganese.

i have a 23w 6500k cfl with a bell reflector and it is growing like wildfire. i have my fuge flow very slow, but the light is what has gotten me the most growth. remember its recommended to change your lights every 3 months or so due to spectrum drop off. you can just start slowly switching your house lights to your old fuge lights.
