    i would agree with this!

    when i first started at this hobby i could never grow chaeto no matter what i do. tried 3 times and ends up turning white and just melts away.
    now 3 years after i am growing chaeto at a steady pace.
    so i would agree that you need to have excess nutrients in the water column before you can grow them. if your tank is fairly new, could be the case as mine did.

    +1. If it isn't growing at all your system does not have the excess nutrients that the Chaeto uses to grow, which is a good thing!
