I have a 55g tank but no fuge. where, if any, is a good place to put chaeto other than a fuge?

Just curious because i read nothing but great things about chaeto and i feel i should add some to my tank.

If you dont have a refugium or a sump, the only other place that Cheato can be placed is in your corner or center over-flow. How do you know if you have a corner/center over-flow? If your tank is drilled with two holes towards the back wall, then you have one of the two over flows.

maybe you could float some in one of those net boxes you use for baby fish, i have seen them do that at the local pet shop with other macro algae.

At one time I got one of those fork/ spoon holders. (you know the plastic container with the suction cups on the back you would stick to your kitchen sink so they can dry..Walmart) Put that on my back wall and it grew out of control. I put it up high.. lol

I created caves out of chaeto in my DT. You can kind of see it in this pic. I would take more photos, but I recently tore the tank down due to an unfortunate set of circumstances...... My son fed my fish... An ENTIRE container of food...

Yes, it does help. It is just another add on way to make your aquarium more like the ocean. It is still only another small part of your filtration process. Just a natural one that is cheap and grows and grows! I have a 38g sump and my fuge section is about 15 gallons, and it is full of chaeto.
